Sugar Ray Norcia (born Raymond Alan Norcia on June 6 1954 in Stonington, Connecticut, United States) is an American electric and soul blues musician as well as a harmonica player. Most famous is his collaboration with his backing band, The Bluetones, with who he has released seven albums since the year 1980.
In 1998, Norcia quit Roomful of Blues, and released Sweet & Swingin’, that featured songs composed by Hank Williams, Arthur Alexander and Big Walter Horton; plus the appearance of The Jordanaires. In 1999, Norcia was a part of James Cotton, Billy Branch and Charlie Musselwhite, on the Grammy Award nominated album, Superharps.
in April 2016, Sugar Ray & the Bluetones were among the inductees who were brought into the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame (RIMHOF). To date, Monster Mike Welch has played on five album releases by Sugar Ray & the Bluetones.
In the year 1991 Norcia herself joined Roomful of Blues as their singer- songwriter. They released three albums featuring Norcia and performed a lot of touring tasks. Norcia was also a part-time musician with the group. He was featured on the Bullseye Blues album from trombonist Porky Cohen, Rhythm and Bones, (1996) as well as on the album Little Anthony and Sugar Ray Get It from Me, (1994). In 1994, Norcia was featured on Otis Grand’s album Nothing Else Matters album.

Norcia began to play his blues based on harmonica at high school. After Norcia moved from Providence, Rhode Island, He formed the Bluetones that secured a home in the position of house band in the local nightclub. They also backed touring acts like Big Walter Horton, Big Mama Thornton, Big Joe Turner and Roosevelt Sykes in nearby clubs. The latter part into the 1970s group was a support act for Ronnie Earl before he departed to join Roomful of Blues.
Norcia’s solo albums included her EPs Sugar Ray and the Bluetones (1979); Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters including their hit album, the Sensational Sugar Ray (1982) as well as two albums through Rounder Records, Knockout (1989) and Don’t stand in My Way (1991). Don’t Stand in My Way was the first album released on the Bullseye Blues label. The Bluetones also supported Miki Honeycutt’s first release, Soul Deep.
In June 2007, Sugar Ray & the Bluetones released their seventh studio album, My Life, My Friends, My Music on Severn Records.
