He played one season with the Nuggets (1979–80). Garland studied at DePaul University. He is the son of gospel singer Cissy Houston, and the half-brother of Michael Houston and Whitney Houston. He is the uncle of Bobbi Kristina Brown, Whitney’s daughter with Bobby Brown. Garland himself has performed as a singer.
