Then, he had the entirety of his professional football career in England and Wales, playing for Stanningley ARLFC (in Leeds) and playing in the Super League for the Warrington Wolves (Heritage No. 1084) and The Leeds Rhinos (Heritage Number. 1299), Gateshead Thunder (loan), Hull FC, and the Castleford Tigers, and in the Championship for Featherstone Rovers (Heritage No. 1025) either as props or second row.
The year 2000 was the time that Carvell was the first international player when he played for Wales during Wales’ participation in the 2000 Rugby League World Cup. Garreth played for Great Britain in 2006 in the 2006 Tri-Nations tournament that was held in Australia. He also assisted Hull F.C. to reach their first Challenge Cup Final. After signing a contract that will ensure that Carvell in Hull F.C. for the next three years, he did a controversial U-turn and moved into Warrington Wolves after a fee was paid.
He was named in the England training squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.
Carvell played for Warrington Wolves in the 2009 challenge cup final victory over Huddersfield Giants, 2010 Challenge Cup Final victory over Leeds Rhinos. and the 2012 challenge cup final victory again over Leeds Rhinos. He also featured in the 2012 and 2013 Grand final defeats.

Carvell has made the Super League debut for the Leeds Rhinos in 1997’s Super League II at the age of 16 in the match against Sheffield Eagles on Friday 22 August 1997.
