Fredrik Claesson (born 24 November 1992) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenseman currently with the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was chosen from his team the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round (126th overall) of the 2011 NHL draft.

Following the 2017-18 season, his sixth year in the Senators organization, Claesson as an impending restricted free agent was not offered an offer to qualify by the club. He was allowed to look into the possibility of free agency on June 25, 2018. He then signed a one-year $700,000 deal for the New York Rangers on 1 July, 2018.

Claesson signed the three-year entry level contract to Ottawa Senators on May 10, 2012. Claesson started playing hockey at Haninge HC, and later made the move towards Hammarby IF, to play in Hammarby’s youth team. He also played two games for the club’s senior squad within the Swedish second division league, HockeyAllsvenskan in 2007.08’s season. Claesson relocated to Stockholm close rival Djurgarden during the 2008-09 season, where he played for the Djurgarden’s J18 as well as J20 teams. He also represented the team Stockholm in the TV-pucken of 2008.

He began the 2019–20 season, with the Hurricanes AHL affiliate and reigning champions, the Charlotte Checkers. In 47 games from the blueline with the Checkers, Claesson contributed with 3 goals and 19 points. On 24 February 2020, Claesson was dealt by the Hurricanes at the NHL trade deadline, along with Janne Kuokkanen and a conditional 2020 fourth-round pick to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Sami Vatanen on 24 February 2020.
