Frederic Hauge is one of the most popular and richest Conservationist who was born on August 15, 1965 in Sandefjord, Vestfold, Norway. Frederic Hauge (born 15 August 1965) is an Norwegian environmentalist. He is the head of the Bellona Foundation which he co-founded in 1986. Bellona is an NGO that operates internationally as an environmental foundation with offices in several countries like Russia, United States, Norway as well as in the European Union.

He was featured in The list in Time magazine of “Heroes of the Environment” October 2007.

In the late 1990s, Bellona set up in the 1990s a Russian branch with a concentration on how to deal with the huge amount generated by nuclear material that had been accumulating over time. The result was a series of disagreements with Russian authorities. Alexander Nikitin, Bellona’s representative in Murmansk was detained in Murmansk’s Federal Security Service and charged with treason for spying. After several years of court hearings, Nikitin was released. Hauge was later to describe this period as the most difficult fight that has ever been fought in Bellona and the result he was happy with.

Hauge was born in Sandefjord, Norway, Hauge was involved in the environmental group Natur og Ungdom as a schoolboy. Hauge owned the very first electrical vehicle that was imported into Norway from 1989. He drove on toll-roads and paid no fare until the time that the government confiscated his vehicle. He returned it and drove through toll roads with no payment. Then the authorities finally took the decision to end tolls for electric vehicles. He was selected as a recipient by Tesla Motors to receive the first Tesla Model S all-electric car that was delivered to Europe to a customer who purchased it in August of 2013.
