Fraser Kerr (born 17 January 1993) is an Scottish footballer who plays in the position of a centre back. Kerr has represented Scotland at a variety of levels, from under-16 to under-21.
Kerr made his debut in the professional game with Premier League side Birmingham City in the year 2011, after progressing into the team’s junior ranks. He did not make an appearance for Birmingham City, and was on loan with Scottish Premier League club Motherwell which he played in 19 appearances. The club released him from Birmingham City in July 2013 after he had returned from his loan period. Kerr later moved to Motherwell on permanent basis and played 40 league appearances over two seasons. He also played for Cowdenbeath before changing into Stenhousemuir in June of 2016.
On 1 July 2013, after his Birmingham contract expired, Kerr signed a two-year permanent deal with Motherwell. On 31 May 2015, Kerr was involved in an incident in Fir Park following the result of a 3–0, 6–1 on aggregate, victory of Motherwell against Rangers, a match that secured Motherwell’s place in the Scottish Premiership. After a clash between players Bilel Mohsni (Rangers) and Lee Erwin (Motherwell), Kerr got involved to defend teammate Erwin. Both teams’ managers described the event as both “unacceptable” and “disgraceful”. Kerr was released by Motherwell at the end of the 2014–15 season.
Kerr signed for Cowdenbeath in November 2015, where he spent one season before signing for Scottish League One side Stenhousemuir in June 2016. At the end of the 2016–17 season Kerr was released following the club’s relegation to Scottish League Two.
His first time playing in the first team took place in the month of January, 2011, when he was chosen as a substitute on the bench for the fourth round of the FA Cup tie against Coventry City. The player was one of Birmingham team for their preseason trip to Ireland and was a part of the second part of the game match against Cork City. In the “B” list for Birmingham’s 2011-12 Europa League campaign, he was a non-subbed substitute for the second leg of the play-off round with CD Nacional.

Kerr began his career with the Scotland under-16 squad in August 2008, in an friendly game against the Jersey team. He was a part of two games in the Victory Shield. The following year , he played six appearances for Scotland’s under-17s including two of them in the qualification round for the European under-17 championships. He also scoring his very first goal for Scotland in the international arena against Finland during the Nordic Tournament. When he was 17 years old, Kerr played two friendlies for Scotland at the level of under-19s in 2010. He also appeared in five matches more in 2011, including three European under-19 championship qualifying matches. Kerr made his debut as an under-21 at the Marbella Cup in October 2012.
It was a surprise to him that Kerr was selected as defensive cover in the first team squad for the 2010 preseason tour of Hong Kong and China. He was not involved in any of the games, playing as an 76th-minute substitution in place of Stephen Carr in the 2-0 victory against Chinese Super League team Liaoning Whowin. His first official contract was signed for two and a half years, in the month of January. Manager of the academy Terry Westley described the “tall and gangly” Kerr as possessing “good awareness on the ball” however, he added that”it the “his change of pace that really convinced us to bring him here” and comparing Kerr to England national Matthew Upson at a similar age.
In August 2012, Kerr rejoined Motherwell on a six-month loan after a successful trial. He made his debut as a substitute in a 2–1 win over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premier League on 18 August. The loan was later extended to last for the season. In April, Birmingham confirmed that his contract would not be renewed when it expired at the end of the season.
