Francois Vercauteren (born 28 October 1956) known as “The Little Prince”, is an Belgian ex-footballer, who was an winger on the left. He is the manager of Anderlecht.
Anderlecht later hired Aime Anthuenis as manager Aime Anthuenis was then appointed manager, and Vercauteren was appointed assistant again. Following the departure of the coach Hugo Broos (the successor of Anthuenis) was fired on February 5, 2005. Vercauteren was appointed the new manager . He also won two times at the Belgian Championship. On the 12th of November, 2007, following several poor and inconsistent performances, Vercauteren and Anderlecht parted team, and assistant coach Ariel Jacobs taking over until the final game of the season.
On 8 August 2011, Vercauteren signed a contract as head coach of Emirati side Al Jazira Club. On 11 March 2012, Al Jazira announced that they had parted company with Vercauteren. They stated the reason behind the controversial exit of Vercauteren was because he was not getting on with the players. On the same day, he was replaced by Caio Júnior.
Vercauteren joined Sporting CP in November 2012, but was sacked after two months, with the club winning just two games during his tenure.
In the final stages the playing season Vercauteren was appointed trainer for the team’s youth of C.S. Braine C.S. Braine, a tiny club located in Walloon Brabant. The following year his move to KV Mechelen where he began training the youth teamand later the first team in 1997-98. After the conclusion of this season, he joined as the assistant manager of his initial club as an athlete, Anderlecht. He was appointed manager alongside his colleague Jean Dockx in the 1998-99 season following a poor start for the manager Arie Haan (Anderlecht dropped to 18th position and the last one at the very beginning in the campaign). Both players were able to secure a pleasant 1-6 victory at Sclessin against their old rival Standard Liege and a 2-5 win in Genk and then returned to the European positions.

Vercauteren made his first team debut for Anderlecht in 1975 against Racing Mechelen, replacing Gilbert Van Binst. On 3 December 2009, Vercauteren signed a contract as head coach for Genk. On 17 May 2011, he celebrated winning the 2010–11 Belgian Pro League championship with Genk after a 1–1 home draw against Standard Liège. He also won the 2011 Belgian Super Cup over Standard, and led his club into the qualifying play-off for the 2011–12 UEFA Champions League.
