When he was enlisted to play for the legendary coach Don Haskins at Texas Western (now the University of Texas at El Paso) The player decided to remain in Wisconsin to study at his first University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where there were 1599 points scored from 1969 to 1972. In the final year of his time in Eau Claire, the Blugolds were NAIA national runners-up. Kentucky State University
As of 2012, the Schade racked up his 500th win as the head instructor in Oshkosh North High School. He is the only coaching staff of all time in Wisconsin sports history for boys, but he does not win the state championship.

When he was a high school junior, Frank played on the Wausau High School Lumberjacks team that finished runners-up at 1997’s WIAA Boys Basketball Championship.
Frank was picked at the time of the 1972 NBA Draft by the Kansas City, Omaha King and played in nine games for the team during the 1972-73 NBA season.
In 2017, Schade earned his 600th victory as a coach. After the 2017 season Schade announced he would retire as the boys basketball coach at Oshkosh North after 31 years. Schade compiled 5 state tournament appearances and 5 conference titles at Oshkosh North while playing in the Fox Valley Association, one of the best leagues in the state of Wisconsin. Before coaching at Oshkosh North he was the head basketball coach at Plymouth High School where he coached for 11 seasons. Schade finished with a career record of 609-316 (437-234 at North)(172-82 at Plymouth) ranking 4th in total wins in the state of Wisconsin.
