Francisco Javier Clavet Gonzalez de Castejon (Spanish pronunciation [fran’thisko xa’bjer, fran’thisko x de kaste’xon]; born in the 24-October-68th day of his birth) is was popularly known by the name of Pato Clavet (Spanish pronunciation:”‘pato” ) was the former pro tennis player of Spain. He was the winner of eight singles titles, made it to the semi-finals in the 1992 Indian Wells Masters and the 1999 Miami Masters, and achieved an all-time high ranking of number. 18 in July of 1992. He reached the number. 16 in the Champions Race (now called ATP Race to London), after having won in Scottsdale in 2001.
Although he didn’t win a tournament the year he had his best was 1992. It was the year that saw him achieve his highest position (No. 18). The year that he was there, he made the semi-finals of Gstaad in Gstaad and San Marino, the semifinals in Philadelphia, Indian Wells, in Madrid and with Palermo and Athens and his quarterfinals at Indianapolis and Schenectady. The year 1993 was his most impressive performance saw him make it to semi-finals at Genoa. He was defeated by final champion Thomas Muster. He made it to his quarter- finals 3 times during clay-court tournaments.
In national competitions, Clavet played in singles finals from 1994 to 1997 at the National Tennis Masters competition in Spain (national version of ATP World Tour Finals), losing all of them. In 1999, in Madrid, the region where he was born, he defeated Alex Corretja, the previous champion, recovering from a 1–6 loss in the first set, to claim the trophy. He also won the National Championship of Spain twice—1995: Juan Antonio Marín and 1999: Juan Carlos Ferrero), and reached the final in 2000 losing to Àlex Corretja.
He played two finals, losing to Alberto Berasategui in 1994. In addition, he reached two semifinals in Athens and Buenos Aires, losing, again to the eventual winners (Alex Corretja and Alberto Berasategui). He also reached the quarterfinals in four clay-court tournaments.

Clavet made his professional debut in 1988 and took home the first ATP singles title in the following year at the Dutch Open in Hilversum. He won five matches in a row to win the title. He is among the few players to have achieved this feat since 1978. (Leonardo Mayer became the only person to be the first player to play five games consecutively, and did this in the 2017 German Open in Hamburg.)
He was regarded as (along along with Sergi Bruguera) the top male Spanish player on indoor and hard courts in the early 1990s as well as the best male Spanish player on grass courts in the 1990s and early year into the new millennium. He was the most successful male Spanish player at Wimbledon in the 1990s and made it to an eighth round match in 1998 having a win over second- seeded Marcelo Rios during the opening round, which he won in five sets, in five sets and Thomas Johansson in the third round. He also made it to the third round of Wimbledon 1999, and was a dominant player during 2001 with Pete Sampras, losing the second set due to a controversial decision that Clavet was unable to see, but the match was awarded to Sampras.

His Davis Cup debut came in 1999 in New Zealand in a playoff that Spain had to win to stay in the World Group. That year, due to several injuries and some refuses, the top Spanish players did not participate in the Davis Cup and Manolo Santana called Felix Mantilla and Clavet to play the singles matches on a difficult surface than Spanish tennis: hard indoor. Clavet won easily over Brett Steven in three sets, showing a powerful and accurate style, and had favourable results in the playoff (4–0) defeating Mark Nielsen in straight sets, losing only four games.
