Instead, Price endorsed Republican Dennis Bonnen of Angleton in Brazoria County, who emerged as the consensus choice for the speakership.

Price completed his studies at the Amarillo’s Tascosa High School back in. He earned an BBA at the University of Texas at Austin in which he was a part of the Texas Cowboys, and a Juris Doctorate in law from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio. Price is the Vice President and Trust Officer at Amarillo National Bank located in Amarillo. He was a partner of the Amarillo law firm of Irwin, Merritt, Hogue, Price & Carthel, P.C., where he advised clients on probate, real estate trust, business, and probate issues.
Price was the first to be appointed to House of Representatives in Texas House in 2010. After a contesting primary and securing 77 % of the votes in the general election of 2010. In December of 2011, Price was appointed to be one of five representatives from the state on the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission.
