On the 21st of April, 2017 Kaufusi signed a new agreement with the Storm until the conclusion of the season in 2019. On May 6, 2017 Kaufusi was a player with Tonga against Fiji during the 2017 Pacific Test, where he played as a second- row player in the win of 26-24 in Campbelltown Stadium. In the course of during the year, Kaufusi assumed the vacant second-row spot from the departing Kevin Proctor and he took the opportunity with the horns and was instrumental in helping the Storm in their run towards the Finals, in which they were took home the Minor Premiership trophy. - NRL Grand Final against the North Queensland Cowboys, Kaufusi was a second-row player and scored an attempt in the victory of 34-6. Kaufusi had a breakout 2017 NRL season by playing in all 27 games and scoring 9 scores. On October 3, 2017 just two days following his Grand Final win, Kaufusi was selected for the 24-man Kangaroos team to play in this year’s Rugby League World Cup. On November 3, 2017 Kaufusi made his debut in the test in the match for Australia against France and France, playing on the bench of interchange in the 52-6 victory in the final at Canberra Stadium.
Kaufusi made his debut for Queensland in Game 1 of the 2018 State of Origin series, starting at second-row in all three games. He then featured in the Melbourne Storm’s Grand Final loss to the Sydney Roosters. Kaufusi played in 21 games for the Storm in 2018, scoring five tries. Kaufusi played for Australia in the end of season tests vs New Zealand and Tonga.
On the 7th of May Kaufusi was a player on behalf of Tonga in the match against Samoa at the Polynesian Cup. On July 6 Kaufusi was selected as the 18th man in the team of Queensland for game 3 of the 2015 State of Origin series. Kaufusi was named the 18th player to Storm Storm during their 2015 NRL Grand Final clash against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks but didn’t play in the thrilling 14-12 loss. Kaufusi completed his 2016 NRL season by playing in 21 games and scoring four scores with the Storm.

From 2010 until 2012, Kaufusi was part of from 2010 to 2012 for the North Queensland Cowboys’ NYC team. On the 2nd of October, 2011, he played in the Cowboys 2012 NYC Grand Final 31-30 Golden Point Extra Time defeat against the New Zealand Warriors. On the 28th of June in 2012, he signed with the Cowboys for a one-year contract. He transferred into an affiliate of the Cowboys’ Queensland Cup team, Northern Pride RLFC. On August 21, 2013 the team signed him to a one-year deal with Melbourne Storm starting in 2014. In Round 4, against the North Queensland Cowboys, Kaufusi scored his first NRL career attempt during the Storm’s 18-17 victory in the 1300SMILES Stadium. On May 2nd, 2015 Kaufusi was a player in the match for Tonga with Samoa at the Polynesian Cup. On July 2, 2015, Kaufusi signed a new contract with the Storm with a two-year deal.
