The first time he was selected in The Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round, which placed them 182nd overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, he returned to this year’s NHL Draft in the year 2001, and was selected with the Vancouver Canucks in the third round (66th overall). He played in 15 NHL games for the Vancouver Canucks, and 116 games for The Manitoba Moose, the minor league affiliate of the Canucks.
On March 24, 2004, Fedorov was involved in an off-ice fight with colleague Kevin Bieksa. According to then-Canucks General manager Brian Burke, several Moose players were out with each other after which Bieksa had a mishap and spilled Fedorov’s beverage. When Bieksa apologized for the mistake and offered Fedorov a second drink, Fedorov challenged him to an argument outside the bar, which resulted in Bieksa punching him in the face by a single blow.
On October 22, 2008, Fedorov signed with Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik of the newly formed Russian Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He subsequently signed with Metallurg Magnitogorsk, of the KHL. Played the 2011-2013 seasons with SKA Saint Petersburg, also of the KHL. During the 2013 offseason Fedorov signed a contract with CSKA Moscow. After one season in Moscow, on October 2, 2014, Fedorov was on the move again after he signed as a free agent with HC Lada Togliatti on a one-year contract.
