During his spare time he used to show short, theatrical sketches that included music and poetry in cafes and clubhouses in Rio with the stage title Fausto Fawcett – an homage to one of his most cherished actresses who died in the past, Farrah Fawcett.

In 1990, Fawcett published his debut novel Santa Clara Poltergeist by Editora Eco. The novel was later followed by Basico Instinto which was a short story collection, which was published by Relume Dumara in 1992. The two books later served as the basis for his next album, titled Basico Instinto, from 1993. After that, his albums stopped in order to concentrate on his writing career, though the band continues to collaborate alongside other artists (such such as Rogerio Skylab Fernanda Abreu, and Samuel Rosa of Skank who, along with us, recorded “Balada do Amor Inabalavel” from the band’s Maquinarama album). Maquinarama). He was also in the thriller Vampiro 40deg, in which he played Vlak a vampire who also happens to be an alleged drug dealer. This film is based off the TV show that was broadcast through Canal Brasil in 2010, Vampiro Carioca, which Fawcett created and was based on the novel As Aventuras do Vampiro Carioca written published by Lucia Chataignier.

In 2018 Fawcett collaborated with pop rock band Leela on their digital single “2000 Light Years from Home” – a cover of the song by The Rolling Stones.

In January 2019 Fawcett reactivated his backing band Os Robôs Efêmeros, now comprising Laufer, Jodele Larcher, Gabriela Camilo and Fábio Caldeira, launching the “Cachorrada Doentia” show, which serves as a teaser for his eponymous upcoming book. It was his first performance in over 20 years.

Fausto Borel Cardoso (born May 10 1957) is better known under the screen nickname Fausto Fawcett, is a Brazilian music producer, rhythm guitarist, singer novelist, lyricist, novelist playwright, short story writer journalist, actor, and screenwriter. He is well-known for regular collaborations with his fellow musicians Laufer and also for being an important proponent of cyberpunk and rap rock literary styles in Brazil. His most well-known compositions include the 1987 smash “Katia Flavia, a Godiva do Iraja” and “Rio 40deg”, recorded by Fernanda Abreu in 1992.

He was well-known for his excessive drinking during the 1980s. This led to him develop heart and liver issues. As of 2008, he’s an alcoholic who is a teetotaler.

As of 2015 Fawcett has published five books, the last of which being the novella Pororoca Rave. Two further works, Cachorrada Doentia and the “children’s novel” Loirinha Levada, announced by him in the late 2000s/early 2010s, have yet to be released. In 2014, Santa Clara Poltergeist and Básico Instinto, which were out of print for years, were re-published by Curitiba- based Editora Encrenca. Encrenca also published a comic book adaptation of “Kátia Flávia, a Godiva do Irajá”, drawn by Iuri Casaes. As of 2016 Fawcett is working on a feature film based on “Kátia Flávia” – Maitê Proença is being eyed for the title role. On an interview from January 16, 2017, he claimed he also planned a film adaptation of his book Favelost.
