Erik Brakstad (born 19 April 1951 in Molde) is an Norwegian former player in the Norwegian football team and coach. Brakstad is most well-known for his work as a coach. Brakstad has also played for and served as the head coach of Molde as well as Traeff. He is the younger brother of Torkild Brakstad.
Brakstad was appointed coach Bryne during 2001. He signed a three-year deal with Bryne. On the 18th of June, 2001 Brakstad quit his post as Bryne’s head coach and took effect immediate effect.
After having left Bryne, Brakstad had a brief time at Hodd at the beginning of 2001. 21 August 2001 saw Brakstad appointed the head coach of Moss from on January 1, 2002. On August 28, 2002, Brakstad was sacked from his post as the coach head in Moss and replaced by Rune Tangen.

Coach, Brakstad began his coaching career as a player coach in Traeff. After a few years as Traeff coach, he moved on to become a coach at Hodd. In his role as Hodd manager, Brakstad won the 1994 Norwegian First Division and gained promotion to the 1995 Tippeligaen. The team made it to the semi-finals at the Norwegian Cup, and in the league, they finished 12th their first year returning to the top division and then were dropped.
After three seasons at Hodd, Brakstad went on to Molde as an assistant coach under the guidance of Age Hareide. After Hareide was dismissed from the club after his 1997 campaign, Brakstad took over as the head coach of Molde. With Brakstad as the head coach, Molde finished runners-up in Tippeligaen in 1997 and 1998. In 1998, he was the head coach of the team on an unbeaten streak of 21 games, which , as of 2019 records for the club. Under Brakstad’s direction, Molde became the second Norwegian club to be a part of in the UEFA Champions League. On the 20th of October, 1999, he led Molde towards their very first Champions League win in club history when they defeated Olympiacos 3-1 at home. The team was sacked on the 31st October of 2000. Brakstad was dismissed from his post the head coach of Molde.
On 17 november 2003, Brakstad was appointed as the first head coach in the recently founded club Kristiansund BK. With Kristiansund, he won the 2005 Third Division play-offs and gained promotion to the Second Division in 2006. In 2006, Brakstad was appointed as head coach in Hødd for the third time in his career. In 2009, Brakstad started his second spell as head coach in Træff. After the 2014 season, Brakstad chose to quit his job as head coach in Træff.
