The PanAm Games in Cali, Colombia (1971) the Colombian took gold in the final against American Larry Carlisle, but it wasn’t until he defeated Betancourt in his national competition in 1972 when he could be able to get his ticket to the Olympics.
Internationally Correa didn’t have much success after 1974. At the PanAm Games in Ciudad de México (1975) he lost a decision to Jackson.
