In the 1980s in the 1980s, she was a major participant in this group of artists that initiated a significant revival of Danish sculpture, with a focus on narrative. In Nuuk, Greenland, Toubro was the daughter of teachers Niels Toubro As well as Kaja Gylding. Toubro was able to move to Denmark at the age of 17 and attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under Hein Heinsen from 1982 until 1986. In the academy, she was in contact with Henrik B. Andersen, Morten Straede, Elle Clarskov Jorgensen, and Oivind Nygard, who were inspired by Heinsen’s theoretic method of sculpture.
