In 2010, despite suffering from a chronic injury, Kroyter was awarded his gold in high jump event at the Youth (18 or younger) Olympics in Singapore. The jump of 2.24 at age 16 during a competition held in Moscow in February of 2010 is until August 2016, the highest high jump ever made by an European youngster under 17 years old of age. He was called”a “rising young star” at the age of 17 by Allon Sinai, a reporter for The Jerusalem Post.
In 2012, Kroyter came 4th in the Men’s high jump at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics in Barcelona, Spain. He also won a gold medal at the 76th Israeli Athletics Championships.
In 2014, he was about to retire because of pain from a relentless injury, but came back from it.
The year 2009 was the time that he was the first Israeli Youth (17 and younger) World Champion at the age of 16, winning the gold medal for his high jump of 2.20 meters during the World Youth Championships in Athletics (the sixth IAAF World Youth Championships in Athletics) in Brixen, Italy. In 2009, Kroyter also took home the Israeli senior record in the high-jump, with a leap of 2.19 meters. Then, in June of 2009, he recorded a record in the world for boys who were less than 17 years old, at 2.21 meters. However, he was hindered however, by a hip injury that kept him from competing.

The family was born in Siberia, Kroyter and his family moved from Siberia to Israel around 1999. He was raised in southern Tel Aviv, raised by his mother who is single, Tatiana who is housekeeper. His parents divorced and he is not in connection with father Piotr who is from Moldova. His brother Evgeni was killed by a severe liver disease in 2012. Kroyter was a member of his unit, the Israel Defense Forces, completing his military service in the year 2015.
Kroyter has been trained in the high jump from in 2005. He is coached with Anatoly “Tolek” Shafran, at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
In 2011, he cleared 2.28 m while he was 17 years of age (a personal best at the time). Later in the year, at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Daegu, South Korea, Kroyter cleared 2.16 m in the Men’s High Jump qualifiers. He was the youngest competitor in the event, at 18 years of age.
