Torbinski was first introduced for his debut for Russian National team the 24th of March 2007 in a match with Estonia and was then called to join Russia at UEFA Euro 2008.
He has not been called up for the national team from 2012 to 2014, returning to the squad on 27 March 2015 in an UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against Montenegro. The game was abandoned with the score of 0–0 due to undisciplined behavior of the Montenegrin fans. He was included in the UEFA Euro 2016 squad, but did not play in any game at the tournament.
On 14 December 2017, Torbinski signed a contract with the Cypriot club Pafos FC. After just three games for the club, he returned to Russia, signing with FC Baltika Kaliningrad in February 2018.
The year 2005 was the time that Dmitri had been enticed to be a part of Spartak Chelyabinsk in order to gain regular playing time. He later returned back to Spartak Moscow. Torbinski was released from the club on a no-cost transfer towards the end of the 2007’s season and went for Lokomotiv Moscow.

Torbinski started in his futsal athlete and then shifted to football and joined Youth Academy of Spartak at an very young age. He worked for a few years in the reserve squad before making his team debut on the field in 2002.
