Dino Meneghin (Italian pronunciation: [‘di:no Mene’gin] Venetian Mene’giNG ; born on January 18, 1950) is an Italian professional basketball player from the past. Meneghin is widely believed to be the top Italian player of all time and is also one of Europe’s greats of all time. The 2.06 m (6 9 inches)) centre of tallness, Meneghin was born in Alano di Piave, Veneto (northeast Italy). On the 20th of November in 1966, at sixteen years old he took part in his first match within the Italian League, with Ignis Varese. He played in the final one of his careers when he was 45. The year 2003 was the time that Meneghin made the distinction of an official Basketball Hall of Fame player. Then, the year after, he was an FIBA Hall of Fame player.
On the 5th of September in 2003 Meneghin made history as the first Italian player to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, following Cesare Rubini, who played for Olimpia Milano as a coach and player between the 1940s and 1970s. Following his retirement from the sport, Meneghin has since worked for the Italian Basketball Federation and for Olimpia Milano.
In the years of 1980 and 1983 He was named European player of the Year named”Mr. Europa, and he also received the Euroscar European Player of the Award in the year 1983. The year 1991 was the time he was voted the most important European basketball player ever according to The Italian journal of basketball Giganti del Basket.
