On the 17th of October 13th, 2013, the British judge issued an order to Enrich along with The Wall Street Journal to follow a demand from the U.K.’s Serious Fraud Office prohibiting the publication from publishing the names of people involved who are subject to the ongoing investigation regarding Libor. Libor scandal. Enrich was threatened with prison in the event of disobedience. The case was reported by the media to illustrate the constraints that media are subject to within the U.K. from courts that restrict reporting to stop journalists from revealing information that the prosecutor believes could compromise the outcome of an investigation or case. It is also a target by celebrities who are eager to cover up their indiscretions. Dow Jones & Company, publisher of the Journal and the Journal’s sister publication, said the injunction was a “serious affront to press freedom.” On the 21st of October the 21st of October, an English judge declared that he would not extend the court order, stating that the injunction wasn’t “no basis” for the restrictions on reporting.

In August 2017, The New York Times announced that they had hired Enrich.

His book, The Spider Network: The Wild Story of a Math Genius, a Gang of Backstabbing Bankers, and One of the Greatest Scams in Financial History, was published in March 2017 to critical acclaim. National Review called The Spider Network “a nonfiction epic…an engrossing, entertaining tale.” Bloomberg Businessweek called it an “exhaustively reported tale” and author Harlan Coben praised it as a “terrific nonfiction book.” The New York Times called it a “vivid depiction of the ethos of the core financial institutions upon which the global economy depends.” CNBC and the FT recommended the book as one of their summer reads. It was also shortlisted for the 2017 Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award.

Enrich has won many journalism awards, including in 2012, an Overseas Press Club award for coverage of the European debt crisis and the George Polk Award for coverage of insider trading as well as two SABEW awards, and the Gerald Loeb Award for writing for feature stories in “The Unraveling of Tom Hayes.” Enrich was in teams with Journal reporters that were finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in 2011 and 2009.
