Dave Scatchard (born February 20 the 20th of February, 1976) is the name of a Canadian former professional hockey player. He was a player with the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, Phoenix Coyotes, Nashville Predators as well as the St. Louis Blues. On the 22nd of August, 2011 the player declared his resignation on Twitter saying doctors advised him that it was not suitable for him to to play hockey because of injuries resulting from concussions. Scatchard was born in Hinton, Alberta, but was raised living in Salmon Arm, British Columbia.

Scatchard was a junior player for The Portland Winter Hawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He was a member of the Vancouver Canucks selected him 42nd overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. His first season as a professional player in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Syracuse Crunch, Vancouver’s minor league affiliate. Scatchard had his NHL debut during the 1997-98 season, scoring 24 points, and established himself as an all-around forward. On the 19th of December 1999, during his third season with Vancouver the Canucks transferred Scatchard for the New York Islanders along with forward Bill Muckalt and goaltender Kevin Weekes for goalie Felix Potvin. After the 2005-2004 NHL lockout Scatchard joined the Boston Bruins, but after only 16 games after signing, he was traded for the Phoenix Coyotes for defenceman David Tanabe on the 18th of November 2005. For 2006 and 2007, Scatchard suffered a setback for final 32 contests of the year due to concussion. He scored eight points in just 45 games. The Coyotes purchased him out of the last two years of his contract during the off-season.
