Dave Hockaday is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on November 9, 1957 in England, United Kingdom. David Hockaday (born 9 November 1957) is an English former professional footballer. He is the Head of Football for Males in South Gloucestershire and Stroud College. He previously served as coach in Leeds United, Forest Green Rovers, Kidderminster Harriers and as a caretaker at Coventry City.
The club of Hull City he was part of the squad that was stricken with being relegated from Hull City’s Second Division at the end of the 1990-91 season. Hull City played him 15 times. Hull in the following season. He ended the 1992-93 season in loan with Stoke City where he played seven times in helping the Potters take home their first Second Division title. After a third year at Hull He moved for Shrewsbury Town. He was a part of the Shrewsbury team that took home the Third Division title at the conclusion of his first season. He then dropped from league soccer, and relocated towards Cirencester Town in 1995.
On 19 June 2007, it was announced that he would be joining Southampton as youth team coach replacing Georges Prost, he was put on gardening leave by the club in January 2009 and was released from his contract in May of the same year. Hockaday again linked up with Martin Allen at his new club Cheltenham Town for a very short period on a non-contract basis however left the club when John Schofield was appointed as the club’s assistant manager in March 2009.
In January 2007, as Watford struggled to avoid relegation, he was sacked by manager Adrian Boothroyd and replaced by Malky Mackay as part of a backroom shake-up at the club, there were also rumours of complaints by a number of senior players about the team’s style of play. In March 2007 he joined Martin Allen at Milton Keynes Dons until the end of the season, where the team reached the League Two play-offs. In May 2007, Martin Allen moved to Leicester City and on 6 June it was announced that Hockaday would be joining the Leicester City coaching staff.
Then, in June of 1983, the player departed as a free-transfer to the Fourth Division side Swindon Town. He was a strong reliable right-back, and was in the squad coached by Lou Macari that gained the Fourth Division championship in the 1985-86 season. This was followed with a promotion into Division Two in 1986-87. In 1988 and 1989, Swindon made it to their first Second Division play-offs but failed in their quest to earn advancement to the highest division. In 1989-1990, Swindon took an opportunity to play in the Second Division play-off final but Sunderland were promoted instead following the Swindon board was able to admit a string infractions to their financial records. Swindon were first demoted in their Third Division and replaced by Tranmere Rovers, who were the Division’s play-off winners However, the decision was later reversed following appeal. Then, in September of 1990 Hockaday made the move into Hull City for a cost of PS50,000. He had been in the league for 308 times for Swindon with 11 goals.

Hockaday was born in Sedgefield, County Durham. He began his professional career as a young player for Billingham Synthonia. Then, in June of 1975 he was 17 years old, the player was a part of Blackpool and was then within the Second Division. The first time he made an appearance as a player for the Tangerines on the 25th of September, 1976, when they suffered the 1-0 loss at home to Chelsea. With the exception of the League Cup second-round tie against Sheffield Wednesday, he sat for the entire 1977-78 season however, the following season began to become a regular first-team player , as Blackpool was slipping into the lower leagues. His first strike for Blackpool in a 3-1 defeat at Colchester United on 30 September 1978. Later that year the two goals were scored in Blackpool’s win 2-1 against Lincoln City.
On the 30th of September the same day in 1981, Hockaday was among the players in Blackpool’s 7-1 victory against Halifax Town at Bloomfield Road. In his final year in Lancashire the player had 40 league games with eight scoring goals but was unable to stop Blackpool from finishing fourth on the bottom of the table and then having to apply for an election. In the eight seasons he spent at Blackpool the player made more than 180 first-team appearances, scoring 27 goals.
In 1996, he established one of the first football academies in the country at Cirencester, following the Thorp Arch model that Howard Wilkinson started at Leeds United in 1994. The Cirencester Football Academy was created in conjunction with the local Sixth Form College. The Academy team soon built up a nationwide reputation by winning the National College Championship. In 2000, he joined Graham Taylor at Watford as the club’s Under 18 coach. As Under 18 coach at Watford, Hockaday helped develop the careers of players such as Paul Robinson, Hameur Bouazza, Tommy Smith, Darren Ward, Ashley Young and Alhassan Bangura. In 2005, he was promoted to first-team coach and assisted the Hornets as the club won promotion to the Premier League in 2006.
