Danton Cole is one of the most popular and richest American hockey player who was born on January 10, 1967 in Pontiac, Michigan, United States. Danton Edward Cole (born 10 January 1967) is a former American pro hockey player, and the Head Coach for the Michigan State Spartans men’s hockey team. He coached his USA Hockey Under-18 team to two gold and bronze award in the IIHF World U18 Championships during his seven years as the head coach between 2010 and the year 2017. As an athlete, he played seven seasons playing in the National Hockey League (NHL) playing for players from the Winnipeg Jets, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders and Chicago Blackhawks. He was a right-winger as well as shot left-handed.
After his retirement, Cole joined the Griffins as an assistant coach. He was there through the season 2001-2002. During that time, he was the head coach of players from the Muskegon Fury of the UHL for one season, guiding the team to a championship victory. He later became a member of the Griffins again in the role of head coach. He also worked as a coach until being removed midseason in 2005-2004 season. Cole was an assistant head coach for Bowling Green State University during 2005 and 2007. Cole was chief coach of the University of Alabama in Huntsville from 2007 to 2008. As head coach for UAH’s UAH Hockey team during the 2009-2010 seasons, Cole led UAH to its second appearance in the NCAA Tournament by winning the CHA conference tournament in a record time, 3-2. After the 2009-10 year, Cole resigned as UAH’s head coach in order to take an coaching job with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. He was named the as head coach at his old school, Michigan State on April 11 2017.
After after the Stanley Cup win Cole played for the majority of the 1995-1996 period within the IHL. Cole also played for teams like the New York Islanders and Chicago Blackhawks however he only saw 12 games throughout the season. It was the last time Cole was a part of the NHL. The following year, he split his time playing for Germany and with the Grand Rapids Griffins, followed by two years of full time playing with the Griffins. Cole was then able to play two games for the Griffins in the 1999-2000 season before formally declaring his retirement.

Cole was selected in The Winnipeg Jets in the 6th round, 123rd overall , in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Cole then attended Michigan State University where he played for four years with a 62-point average in 47 games during his senior year. Cole was then assigned to the Moncton Hawks of the AHL for the 1989-1990 season participating in 80 matches. The same season, he also had his NHL debut with the Jets with two points in two games. In the following year, he was awarded an all-time position in the Jets and was there for two more seasons.
Before the 1992-1993 season Cole was dealt to the newly-formed Tampa Bay Lightning and became part of the initial Lightning roster. While playing for the Lightning Cole had his most successful time in NHL as he scored 43 points over 81 games in the 1993-94 season. The 1994-95 season was a time when Cole take part in most of the season in the Lightning before being transferred for the New Jersey Devils. The following season, the Devils were awarded the Stanley Cup and Cole had his name inscribed upon the Cup.
