In 1983, and again in Italy she was appointed “Prima Ballerina” in Arena di Verona’s Corps de ballet, directed by Giuseppe Carbone, interpreting with Carlos Iturrioz choreographies written by Carbone himself. Mario Pistoni, Mats Ek, Jiri Kylian and Susanna Egri (playing “the Slave” in the opera Aida). In 1985, she received her “Citta di Verona” award.
In 1989, retiring from professional dance, she moved to Spoleto with her husband, Norwegian movie director and producer Robert Reiss-Andersen.
In 1991 she worked in Sweden as artistic assistant to choreographer Cristina Caprioli.
With Mats Ek as artistic director, she was later cast as “the Princess” in Saint George and the Dragon, “the Hunchback” in The House of Bernarda Alba, “the Girl” in Ungdoms Minnen, and Nacho Duato. Also, she danced on stage in Miss Julie, Soweto, Antigone and Giselle. She collaborated with choreographer Jiri Kylian on Transfigured Night (along with dancer Ana Laguna) and Christopher Bruce as choreographer in charge of Ballet Rambert, in the work Ghost Dances. In 1982, she was awarded the Porselli prize.

In 1974, at the Nervi International Ballet Festival Malusardi was noticed by a few people from the new york-based Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. After receiving another scholarship, she took classes in Horton, Graham, and Cunningham techniques with a variety of instructors which included Pearl Lang, Sylvia Waters and the current Ailey artistic director Judith Jamison. Malusardi was later added to the “junior” company by Alvin Ailey himself, securing the main parts on Revelations, Wade in the Water as well as Fix Me Jesus. In 1975, she received the Capezio award. In 1976, after not being part of the group of Ailey’s “senior” company, she returned to Rome and attended in the Centro Internazionale di Danza.
In 1977, she travelled to Stockholm to join Birgit Cullberg’s ballet company in which she performed Eurydice for Orpheus and Eurydice, “the Woman” in Urskogen, “Juliet” in Romeo & Juliet, all performed in the name of Cullberg; Malusardi also interpreted “the Ballerina” in the work dedicating it to Anders Ek, Cullberg’s late husband. One of her most renowned performances included “Eve” in Adam och Eve with Niklas Ek at the Cuban ballet festival as well as Rudolf Nureyev with whom she also performed in a film version of the piece for an American broadcasting company.
In 1986 together again with her dance partner Carlos Iturrioz, she joined Frankfurt Ballet directed by William Forsythe, who had twisted the previous classical tradition by introducing new revolutionary choreographies. Among other pieces she danced in Artifact, Steptext, Impressing the Czar, Love Songs and Big White Baby Dog.
