Sotres is a native of Santiago de Cudeyo, Cantabria. He was a member of the his own local team Racing De Santander’s youth squad and made his debut in the team’s first time on April 9th, 2012 (one month before the 19th anniversary of his birth) when he came from the bench to replace an injured Mario Fernandez in a 0-3 La Liga away loss against Malaga CF; three days after, he received his first game, but his team lost by the same score, at home against RCD Mallorca, being eventually eliminated at the end of the season.
Sotres was made Racing’s main team for the 2012-13 season He was then a part of the team for the 14 Segunda Division games – 15 overall – while they fell down to a lower level. On January 29, 2014, as the club was being sucked into a financial crisis Sotres was transferred into Recreativo de Huelva but had to wait until March before he could begin playing.
