Daniel Kharitonov is one of the most popular and richest Pianist who was born on December 22, 1998 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Sakhalin Oblast, Russia. Daniel Kharitonov (Russian: Daniil Kharitonov) (born 22 December 1998) Also known as Daniil Kharitonov is an Russian musician of classical music. The youngest participant in the piano section of the famous XV International Tchaikovsky Competition held in June 2015, where he took home the Third Prize and the Bronze Medal. He was just 16 and a half years old and was in the 10th grade in high school when he was awarded the prize this prize, making him the youngest pianist during the history of the International Tchaikovsky Competition after Grigory Sokolov. The winner was also one of the Grand Prix winner of the 1st Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition (2015). Kharitonov is a student in the Central Music School of Moscow Conservatory under the direction of Professor Valery Piasetsky.
In March of 2013, Kharitonov successfully performed in the Carnegie Hall in New York. American critics were extremely awed by the young artist’s performance. In the same year Kharitonov was named for “National Pride of Russia” at the age of 14 and was accompanied by figures of great significance: M. Plisetskaya, A. Netrebko, R. Shchedrin and S. Zakharova. On the 6th of October, 2013, Kharitonov was given the immense honor of being a torchbearer at the Ceremonial Welcome of the 2014 Sochi Olympic flame, which was held at the Moscow Kremlin. The fourth torchbearer and then passed the torch on onto Diana Vishneva, ballet dancer and National Artist of Russia.
In April 2015, the 16-year-old Daniel Kharitonov won the Grand Prix at the 1st Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition. Two months later, he received the Third Prize and Bronze Medal at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition. The audience of the Tchaikovsky Competition were amazed at the virtuoso prodigy’s supreme techniques and sincere interpretations. He was named as “a discovery of the XV Tchaikovsky Competition”.

Kharitonov was the first to make his appearance in an orchestra when he was just seven, performing the Mozart concerto. At the same time, he was a Grand- Prix winner of the International Contest in Vienna and was awarded the Honorary Title “Mozart – the Wunderkind”. In 2006, he won the First Prize at the Open International Competition of Piano Players and Groups in the Memory of S. Rachmaninov. He was awarded the prize in 2008. Kharitonov was awarded the prize at his Second Open Regional Competition of Young Performers “Concert with Orchestra” in Voronezh In the same year, he took home the first Prize in the Moscow International Competition “New Names”. His first step towards greater recognition came with that of the 11th Television Competition “The Nutcracker” held in 2010. He was awarded the first Prize in known as the “Golden Nutcracker”, as in addition to a prize from the Russian television station “The Culture”. At the age 11 performing the Rachmaninov’s First Concerto with the orchestra “New Russia” conducted by Freddy Cadena, Kharitonov was given the honorary title of winner of the prize for orchestra. A special CD that includes a the recording of the concert was released.
Kharitonov was born on the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Sakhalin Island. His mother plays the violin and would often take the young man to rehearsals and performances. In the early years of his life, Kharitonov displayed unusual gift for music, as he was able to precisely knock like the metronome. Kharitonov began to play piano when he was 5 and was accepted into at the Secondary Special Music School in the city of Novosibirsk under the guidance by Yana Turich, who was an assistant to professor Mary Lebenson. In the following year his “phenomenal talent and a huge passion for music’ won him an award of the New Games Charitable Foundation and an invitation to attend the highly regarded Central Music School of P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. He is learning with professor Valery Piasetsky, an Honoured Artist of Russia since 2009.
