Daniel Glattauer is one of the most popular and richest Journalist who was born on May 19, 1960 in Vienna, Austria. Glattauer was born in Vienna on the 19th of May 1960. He grew up in Favoriten the 10th district of the city in which he also attended the school of Neulandschule Laaerberg. When he was in high school, around 16 years old the young man began making his love poetry debut, as well as short stories, which are not published. To be used for personal use, He also composed songs for guitar.

After his first novels “Der Weihnachtshund” and “Darum” were successful in the German-speaking area, Glattauer’s real breakthrough as a novelist happened in 2006, with Love Virtually. Since 2009 he is a freelance author, residing in Vienna and the ‘Waldviertel’, the northwestern region of Lower Austria with his wife Lisi Glattauer and five Indian runner ducks. In 2010 he was part of the jury of the short-story competition “Wortlaut” by the Austrian radio station FM4.

His literary works were translated into 40 languages, sold over 3 million times and adapted for radio, theater, television and cinema alike, even beyond the German speaking countries. In 2006 he was nominated for the German Book Prize (Deutscher Buchpreis) for his novel Love Virtually.

Glattauer isn’t the sole author and journalist within his extended family. Herbert O. Glattauer, his father is a former journalist and freelance writer who has published several books. He also wrote about 40 stories in short form under the pseudonym of ‘Oscar Hannibal Pippering’. The stories starred one of his private detectives with identical name. Herbert Glattauer is currently working on his next novel. The brother of Daniel Glattauer, Nikolaus, is a writer, journalist and teacher in Vienna He has published books that have a humorous perspective on education. From the time of his birth, Theo Glattauer’s nephew Daniel recorded his childhood and his development in short essays as well as interviews. Daniel Glattauer (born May 19 1960) is a famous Austrian journalist and writer. The author was raised in Vienna in Austria, where he currently lives and is employed. A columnist who was a regular contributor to Der Standard, a national daily newspaper, he’s famous for his dialogic narrative novel Love Virtually (Gut gegen Nordwind) and its sequel Every Seventh Wave (Alle sieben Wellen).

After his graduation in 1978, the student went on to pursue art history and pedagogy in the University of Vienna in 1979 and completed his doctorate in

1985. He wrote his dissertation on “the evil in the upbringing”. In the same year at the age of 25 he began dating Lisi who he got married to twenty years later. Her 5-year-old son was brought, Thomas, into the couple and they raised him together.

Glattauer’s novel “Der Weihnachtshund” was adapted for television in 2004. The movie, by the same name, was directed by the German producer Michael Keusch, starring Nadeshda Brennicke and Florian Fitz in the lead roles of Katrin and Max. Three years later, the Austrian screenwriter and director Harald Sicheritz produced Glattauer’s “Darum” for the cinema. Neither the movie “Der Weihnachtshund” nor “Darum” were as successful as the theater versions of Glattauer’s other novels.

Love Virtually was adapted for BBC Radio 4 by Eileen Horne. Produced by Clive Brill for Pacificus Productions, the abridged play starred Emilia Fox and David Tennant in the lead roles of Emmi Rothner and Leo Leike. The program was first broadcast at 2:15 p.m. on March 8, 2012 and ran for a week.
