1 April the 1st of April, 2015 Tilse was signed on a two two-year deal to join Hull Kingston Rovers.

Tilse was signed by with the Canberra Raiders in 2006. Tilse continued to play more than 200 matches for Canberra and was a part of four finals for the club.

Tilse was the first player to make his Grade debut with Newcastle on the 15th of November, 2004 in the match against Sydney Roosters which ended in defeat of 48-4.

Tilse as well as others Newcastle Knights players were involved in a drunken incident at Bathurst, New South Wales in 2005. On 3 September 2017, Tilse came out of retirement to play for the Newcastle Knights in their Intrust Super Premiership NSW elimination finals match against The North Sydney Bears. Newcastle Knights won the match 40-18.
