In July 2005, Nobacon was part of a string of protest concerts in protest against the G8 Summit that were arranged to counteract Live 8’s official Live 8 concerts. In August 2007 he debuted the album The Library Book of the World that was released by the Chicago-based Bloodshot Records label (with fellow band member Jon Langford from the punk era The Pine Valley Cosmonauts as his backing group). After he had given up on a book that dealt with the current situation the announcement was made the Exterminating Angel Press was going to release the book as an “anarchist fairy tale” written by Nobacon and illustrated by filmmaker Alex Cox called Three Dead Princes. The publication of Three Dead Princes coincided with the release of a brand new album titled Woebegone, which was released in October 2010 during an U.S. Tour.
He is well-known for his exuberant behavior when he was in public, as documented in bandmate Boff Wolley’s autobiography Footnote*. He was also known for stripping naked during the beginning of his solo shows. In later years, he’s declared himself a transvestite and has worn an apron of a nun’s dress when performing live. He was a celebrity and received plenty of press coverage after he tipped an ice cube over UK Vice Prime Premier John Prescott at the 1998 BRIT Awards.

Nobacon has been a long-time vocalist who has expressed his opinions via his songs, releasing cassettes from the early 1980s with songs that explored his thoughts on anarchism ecological issues, as well as personal connections. While he is a member of Chumbawamba the first vinyl release from their label Sky and Trees label was Nobacon’s solo album with acoustic instruments that was a remastering of his scatological eco-concept album The Unfairy Tale in 1985.
