Keczmer was among the many North Stars who joined the San Jose Sharks in the 1991 NHL Dispersal Draft. Prior to when the Sharks begin their inaugural season but Keczmer became a trade target for the Hartford Whalers in exchange for Dean Evason. Keczmer was a part of the Whalers, Calgary Flames, Dallas Stars, and Nashville Predators until he retired following the 1999-2000 season.
Keczmer had four seasons at Lake Superior State University and was a part of the Lake Superior State Lakers 1988 NCAA Championship men’s ice hockey team.
