Denson was born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, in 1975. After a few years of when he was born, the family relocated away from Aliquippa in Pennsylvania to Baldwin, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Denson was a student at Baldwin High School where he played under the famous WPIAL Hall of Hall of Fame Coach Don Yannessa. Denson was the only student of Baldwin High School history to begin playing on the team’s varsity football team when he was an actual freshman. When he was playing in the fierce WPIAL, Denson had to contend with the likes Pro Football Hall of Fame player Jason Taylor and future Super Bowl Champion Mike Logan who later became his 1997 Draft teammates. As a junior Denson’s Fighting Highlanders beat North Hills High School to win their first playoff game in nearly three decades. In his senior year Denson was chosen as an USA Today High School All-American and selected to play in the famous Big 33 Pennsylvania Football High School All Star Game playing alongside Jon Ritchie and Ron Powlus.

Denson was chosen to Denson by the New England Patriots in the fourth round (97th overall selection) in the 1997 NFL Draft. Denson played with the Patriots under coach Pete Carroll from 1997 to 1999. He was at 16 times for the Patriots in 1998, with four as a starter on offensive guard.

In his junior year, Denson was converted to an offensive guard. Denson played in one game as a guard in 1995, as well as every game in 1996. Alongside Jon Runyan, Jon Jansen and Rod Payne, Denson helped Tim Biakabutuka rush for 1,818 yards, which is still Michigan’s single season record-breaking rushing total in 1995. Denson was selected as a guard on the first team of the 1996 All- Bigten Football team. He also blocked the way for Brian Griese and Heisman trophy winner Charles Woodson.

He played in the NCAA football tournament as defensive offensive guard and tackle for the University of Michigan from 1993 until 1996. He played professionally with the offensive line within the National Football League (NFL) for the New England Patriots from 1997 until 1999.

Denson was admitted to his first University of Michigan in 1993 and played for the Michigan Wolverines football teams from 1993 until 1996. Denson began the career playing defensive lineman and played in four games in that position as an unofficial freshman in 1993.
