Dale DeGray is one of the most popular and richest Ice Hockey Player who was born on September 3, 1963 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Dale “Digger” DeGray (born on September 3 1963) is a Canadian former ice hockey defenseman who played 153 times in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was a round eight draft pick, 182nd in the overall from the Calgary Flames at the 1981 NHL Entry Draft and played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings and Buffalo Sabres in addition to the Flames before embarking on an extensive playing career in minor leagues. In the international arena, DeGray represented Canada on at least one occasion. He was part of the team that won bronze during the 1995 World Championship. DeGray has been appointed the General Manager of Owen Sound, which is part of the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and was awarded the OHL Executive of the Year in 2010-11.
DeGray played the majority of his two seasons in the American Hockey League’s Rochester Americans before spending the 1991-92 season in Italy with HC Alleghe. Then he came back to North America and played several seasons in the International Hockey League (IHL) with seven teams. He was selected to the IHL second All-Star Team on two occasions during 1992-93 with The San Diego Gulls and 1994-95 divided among The Detroit Vipers and Cleveland Lumberjacks. In 1995, he played his first game with in the Canadian nation’s team. DeGray had one assist and provided one assists in six matches for the bronze-medal winning Canadians in the 1995 World Championship. The final season of DeGray’s career was 1998-99. Unable to find a steady position within Calgary The Flames made a trade of DeGray for the Toronto Maple Leafs on September 17th, 1987, as part of a fifth-round draft selection. DeGray spent the major portion of the 1987-1988 NHL season with Toronto in which he scored 26 points over 56 games, and played a few games at forward. DeGray had only one season in Toronto when he was taken off waivers by Los Angeles Kings. He played a record-breaking of 63 games for the Kings in 1988-89, and scored 28 points and 97 penalties in the time. Following the start of the 1989-90 season as a player for the league’s New Haven Nighthawks, the Kings exchanged DeGray on the 24th of November in 1989, with the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Bob Halkidis. The six games that he played in Buffalo was the final game part of the player’s NHL career.

The grandchild of the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Inductee Kelly DeGray, Dale played lacrosse and hockey during his early years, but shifted his attention solely towards hockey during his teens. In junior, he played in three games with Oshawa Generals Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) between 1980 and 1983, where the team earned him a name as a tough defenceman. DeGray had 50 point during the third season of 1982-83. He also scored 14 more during the playoffs when the Generals were awarded the J. Ross Robertson Cup as OHL champions.
The Calgary Flames selected him in the eighth round, ranked 182nd overall, at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, and the NHL season began in 1983-84 by scoring a 30 point season with the Colorado Flames of the Central Hockey League (CHL). He spent the remainder of his time with the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Moncton Golden Flames. He was selected on the AHL second All-Star Team in 1984-85, and was captain for the Golden Flames in 1985-86. DeGray was a part of one NHL game during the season. He made his NHL debut for Calgary on the 6th of March 1986, in a game against the New York Rangers. DeGray played in a minor role in Calgary between 1986 and 1987. In 27 games for Calgary Flames, DeGray scored six goals and had seven assists.
DeGray briefly turned to coaching, where he spent two seasons as the head coach of the United Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs between 1999 and 2001. He led the team to a combined 62–72–14 record in that time. Since 2007, he has been the general manager of the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack. DeGray was named the OHL’s Executive of the Year in 2010–11 after guiding the Attack to a franchise-best 46–17–5 record, a J. Ross Robertson Cup championship and a place in the 2011 Memorial Cup tournament.
