Tropp played three seasons (2007–10) of college ice hockey at Michigan State University with the Michigan State Spartans in the CCHA at the NCAA Division I level. Tropp’s MSU career was marred by controversy in 2009 when he and teammate Andrew Conboy brutally attacked Michigan Wolverines defenseman Steve Kampfer in an on-ice incident where Conboy appeared to check Kampfer from behind and Tropp appeared to slash Kampfer in the neck. Both players were suspended by Spartans head coach Rick Comley for the remainder of the season.

Corey Tropp (born July 25, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey player who is currently playing for the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League (AHL). He has previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres, the latter of which drafted him in the third round, 89th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
