Constantin Budescu is one of the most popular and richest Romanian footballer who was born on February 19, 1989 in Urziceni, Romania. Constantin Valentin Budescu (Romanian pronunciation: [konstan’tin, valen’tin, bu’desku]; born 19 february 1989) is a Romanian professional footballer, who is the attacking player in the team of Astra Giurgiu.

Budescu played in an unofficial match in the match for Romania B during a 1-4 loss in a friendly match against Poland in February of 2013. His first appearance for the full team came two years later, when Budescu was substituted in the substitute in the 78th minute in the 0-0 draw in Hungary in Romania’s UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Budescu is nicknamed “Sărmăluță”, due to his weakness for traditional food. In October 2014, he married Mădălina in Ploiești, with former footballer Dănuț Coman acting as best man.

On 21 August 2014, Budescu scored a penalty against French side Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League play-off (2–1 away win, qualification on the away goals rule). On 6 August of the following year, in the same competition but in the third qualifying round, his second leg brace helped defeat West Ham United 2–1 at home and 4–3 on aggregate.

His senior career began in Petrolul Ploiesti, amassing over 150 appearances in the span of six seasons prior to his transfer onto Astra Ploiesti in 2011. Astra Ploiesti who moved to Giurgiu in 2014, he was awarded two Supercups and Cupa Romania. Cupa Romaniei and one Supercupa Romaniei in 2014. The player had a brief stint working with Chinese side Dalian Yifang in early 2016 and then returned to Astra and signed with FCSB in June 2017.

In 2007 Budescu began his career at Liga II for Petrolul Ploiesti as a youth player. As time went on, he established himself as a regular first team player, eventually catching the attention at Rapid Bucuresti, Politehnica Timisoara and FC Brasov.

In 2009 following the departure to Laurentiu Marinescu to Unirea Urziceni, Budescu took over the number 10 jersey.

In the 2011 summer, Budescu signed a contract with cross-town rivals Astra Ploiești, later relocated and renamed Astra Giurgiu. On 21 July 2013, he scored his first hat-trick in Liga I, in the 4–0 away win against Viitorul Constanța. Four days later, during their first ever appearance in the UEFA Europa League, he netted twice in a 2–1 success at Omonia as his team played 30 minutes with one player less and qualified to the third round; due to his exploits, he was dubbed the “Hero of Nicosia”.
