The eldest son of Christ Church, Barbados, King was an all-rounder. However, he was more successful with the bat rather than the ball particularly during Test cricket, when he scored a hundred and two fifty and not taking three wickets during three innings. For ODI cricket, King’s best scoring – and fastest – performance was scored in 1979’s World Cup final, when King scored 99-4 to score the tally of 86 off 66 deliveries and 149 more with Viv Richards. King also took a catch and bowled 3 overs for 13 runs in the game in which West Indies won the match by 92 runs. West Indies won by 92 runs.
Collis is still enjoying his cricket and has been as a player for Yorkshire club Dunnington CC since 2001.
