Cliff Stoudt is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on March 27, 1955 in Oberlin, Ohio, United States. Clifford Lewis Stoudt (born March 27 1955) was a former American football player in the National Football League for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Phoenix Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys. He was also a part of the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League. He was selected into the 5th round (121st overall) by the Steelers. He played in the NCAA football tournament on the field at Youngstown State University.

The year 1984 was the time that Stoudt was released from the NFL and joined his own team, the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League. In the final game in the league that was the opening game at home of the Pittsburgh Maulers on March 11 at Three Rivers Stadium, Stoudt was taunted and hit with snowballs from the crowd. This would turn out to be the sole sellout in the history of one season of the team.

Because the Pittsburgh Steelers still owned the rights to Stoudt, on September 1, 1986, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for a conditional draft choice (fifth round #121-Darin Jordan). He served as Neil Lomax’s backup and was also the team holder on kicks. He had 2 starts each in 1986 and 1988. In 1989, Stoudt asked for his release after the team acquired free agent Gary Hogeboom. He was cut in March 1989.

In 1986, the league ceased operations after losing most of its claims in an antitrust suit against the National Football League, with its top talent absorbed by the NFL in a dispersal draft conducted in the aftermath.

The following year, Bradshaw assumed the role as the quarterback’s primary replacement in Bradshaw’s injury-plagued last year in the 1983. He played the Steelers to a 9-2 record, but the team fell apart at the end of the season. Steeler fans, who were accustomed to Bradshaw’s heroics in the final minutes of games were ruthless on Stoudt. The Steelers took home this year’s AFC Central with a 10-6 record , and then fell short of playoffs, but were quickly beaten in the playoffs by Los Angeles Raiders.
