Claudia Rosiny is one of the most popular and richest University Teacher who was born on February 15, 1960 in Bad Godesberg, North Rhine- Westphalia, Germany. Claudia Rosiny grew up the oldest of six siblings at her home in the Herler Muhle (de) which was a former water mill located in Cologne-Buchheim. The father of her, Nikolaus Rosiny (born July 19th of 1926 at Mulheim an der Ruhr, Germany and died on 16 March 2011. Cologne) is an architect. Her mother Johanna Rosiny nee Riedel (born on June 4 in 1936, in Prague) was a psychotherapist for adolescents and children. After she completed her training as a gymnastics instructor, Rosiny went on to study the theatre, Film and Television, German and Education at the University of Cologne (1983-1989). For three semesters she was a participant in the Play- Music Dance (Spiel-Musik-Tanz) program as an exchange from the German Sport University Cologne (Deutsche Sporthochschule Koln). In 1987/88, she took a period in Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam. The year 1997 was the time she earned her PhD and her dissertation was focused on Video Dance at the Institute of Theatre Studies at the University of Berne.

As a lecturer Rosiny is very dedicated to integrating dance practices study, film and dance. From 1994 to 2005 she was the leader of classes in Video Dance and Contemporary Dance at the Institute for Theatre Studies at the University of Berne as well as from 2006 until 2011, she taught proseminars on postmodernism, intermediality theatre and performances in the Institute for Media Studies at the University of Basel. From 2002 until 2015, she was part of the management team for the programme and lecturer on the ongoing educational course TanzKultur (designed for students currently in employed) in the University of Bern. Since 2016 she has been working as a lecturer in the Institute for Theatre Studies on the recently introduced Master of Advanced Studies in Dance/Performing Arts: “This unique Continuing Education Study Programme, with its interdisciplinary design and international network, will reflect the current state of research.” She has taught Cultural Management Practice (continuing education) at Lucerne University since 2012.

Since its foundation in 1998, the Kornhausforum has been a venue for design and social politics. The concept for its occupancy, demonstrating a pronounced bias towards culture, was determined via a referendum of the Bernese people. Over ten years (1998–2007) – first as a co-director (with Peter Eichenberger), then, from 2006 onwards, solely in charge – Claudia Rosiny steered its development as a cultural centre focusing on architecture, design, photography, video, new media and socio-political issues. Rosiny was on the jury panel of the Hans-Reinhart-Ring of the Swiss Society for Theatre Culture (Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Theaterkultur SGTK) from 2001 to 2006, of the German Video Dance Prize (Deutscher Videotanzpreis) 2003–2004, the Swiss Dance and Choreography Prize (Schweizer Tanz- und Choreographiepreis) 2002–2010 and the Dance Screen competition in Cologne (1999). She also participated in the pre-selection for the 37th Dance on Camera Festival New York City (2008/9) and VIPER ’01, the International Film & Videofestival Basel (2001).

The festival of contemporary dance was created around 1987, by Reto Clavadetscher, and was co-directed by Claudia Rosiny from 1991 to 2007.
