Clara Rojas is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on December 20, 1964 in Bogota, Colombia. Clara Leticia Rojas Gonzalez (born on December 20, 1964) is an Colombian lawyer, lecturer at a university also a campaign coordinator for the former senator and presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt. Rojas was abducted and Betancourt from the FARC militant group near San Vicente del Caguan on February 23, 2002 when Betancourt was running for presidential race. Following the kidnapping, Rojas was chosen as Betancourt’s vice-presidential contender.

After being temporarily suspended Operation Emmanuel resumed, and on the 10th of January the 10th of January, 2008, a humanitarian commission led by the International Committee of the Red Cross flew two Venezuelan helicopters to an area within Colombia the FARC had identified earlier in the day. The two, Rojas as well as Gonzalez were transferred into the custody of the Commission. On the 13th of January in 2008, Rojas was returned to Emmanuel and it is the very first time she’d met her son in more than two years after having been separated from him for over two years.

Rojas was a candidate for Congress in Colombia’s March 2014 election. She was also a candidate for Vice President at one point.

On the 27th of December, 2007 the FARC militant group was believed to be in the process of planning to release Rojas along with the congresswoman Consuelo Gonzalez, as part of the form of a unilateral prisoner release, that was negotiated with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Rojas had last been seen publicly in a video released by the guerrilla group in 2003. However, on January 10, 2008, Rojas and former congresswoman Consuelo González were freed after six years in captivity. Betancourt was rescued on July 2, 2008.
