Chuck Goudie (born January 17 1956, in Detroit, Michigan) is a American television journalist based out of Chicago. The journalist has worked as principal investigative reporter for ABC-TV’s WLS-TV located in Chicago since the year 1990. He has been working for ABC7 since Aprilof 1980.

The 1993 probe of allegations of sexual abuse against cardinal Joseph Bernardin resulted in the cardinal’s accuser resigning from the case.

The 2004 “Changing of the Guard” investigation documented misconduct, accidents and negligence by top members of the Illinois State Police unit that guarded Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. It resulted in the governor ordering a thorough state police overhaul.

Goudie has received a National Emmy Award for Investigative Reporting. Goudie’s series “Worst Case Scenario” exposed how government agencies and chemical companies were unprotected against an attack. The reports found significant gaps in security at Illinois chemical plants; significant because there are more chemical facilities containing large amounts of hazardous chemicals in Illinois than any state in the USA.

Goudie has an undergraduate degree of Michigan State University where he was a member in the Delta Chi fraternity. In 1982, he got married Teri Goudie, who was an ABC producer who runs the media consulting and corporate crisis management company. The couple has five kids. Brittany Goudie, one of Chuck and Teri’s children began her career in HARPO Studios in Chicago working as a producer on The Oprah Winfrey Show, managing music at the Nashville-based Starstruck Entertainment, and now as the producer for SiriusXM The Highway morning show featuring Storme Warren.

At the age of 12 years old, Goudie was regular on two children’s programs that aired weekly on WXYZ TV in Detroit, Michigan. (1968-72). In 1975-76, he served as the director of news at The Michigan State Network, the campus radio network that serves Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He was a full-time radio newsman at both WILS-Radio as well as WVIC-Radio located in Lansing and also as a reporter for WXYZ-Radio which was located in Detroit.

Goudie was also employed by WSOC-TV which is the ABC affiliate located in Charlotte, N.C., where he served as a principal anchor of the sports channel (1978-80) in addition to a reporter for general assignments (1977-78).

In 1998, Goudie and his team broke the “Licenses-for-Bribes” investigation which revealed that Illinois commercial drivers’ licenses were being sold to hundreds of unqualified truckers. The TV investigation motivated the FBI to send agents undercover in Illinois Secretary of State facilities and led to dozens of federal corruption indictments. The Justice Department’s “Operation: Safe Roads” led all the way to former Governor George Ryan.
