Jan Christian Ehler (born 17 August 1963) is an German politician, who’s served as an elected member of the European Parliament since 2004. He is an active Member of the Christian Democratic Union, part of the European People’s Party.
In addition to committee duties, Ehler has served as one of the Parliament’s delegations responsible for relations with states from South Asia and the South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (2004-2007), India (2007-2009) and the United States (since 2012). He is also the chair of the European Parliament Intergroup on Creative Industries.
Ehler was the first person elected to the State Parliament of Brandenburg in the state elections in 1999. As a Member of the CDU the parliamentary group, he was the spokesperson for industry and technology policies. He was an elected part of both the Committee on Economic Affairs and the Committee on European Affairs and Development Policies. Additionally, he was a member of the Committee on European Affairs and Development Policies. as a substitute member for the Committee on Budgetary and Financial Affairs.
