Bober played in the NCAA football tournament and played in 45 games as offensive lineman at University of Nebraska at Omaha. The school awarded him first-team American Football Coaches Association, first-team All-America by Daktronics/CoSIDA, Football News All-America distinction, and first-team All America and Division II Offensive Lineman of the Year from Gazette Magazine when his club was the top team in Division II with 335.2 rushing yards per game in 1999. He was also the first-team All-America selected by Daktronics/CoSIDA in his junior year and was named first team-All the North Central Conference as well as the Most Valuable offensive lineman both in 1999 and 1998. He was captain of the team in his senior season at UNO as well as the offensive team captain for his Snow Bowl team, a division II All Star game. Bober returned to the college during off-seasons and graduated from Nebraska-Omaha University with a the degree of General Studies in May 2006 receiving the NFL’s continuing Education Award.
Bober was on the roster for the first 10 weeks of the season in 2000 on the practice team before being made a 53-man roster on the 6th of November the 6th of November, 2000. Bober was inactive for three games . He played in three contests but didn’t see any action in the game, and remained uninvolved for three postseason games which included Super Bowl XXXV against.
