On July 30th in 2018, De Jong was traded to the Minnesota Twins along with infielder Ryan Costello in exchange for Ryan Costello for pitcher Zach Duke. De Jong was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays out of Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California in the second round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. After signing the bonus of $620,300 De Jong was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays and appeared in 6 relief appearances for the team. He posted an 0-1 record, with an 1.50 earn-run average, and 15 strikes in 12 innings with just one walk. De Jong was promoted to the Bluefield Blue Jays prior to the beginning for the year 2013 and had 13 appearances with the Bluefield Blue Jays, including 10 starts. DeJong has been traded to Los Angeles Dodgers on July 2, 2015 in exchange for cash. With 11 games (10 in all) with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes he was 4-3 and had an 4.86 ERA. In all, he struck out six over seven innings with the Quakes in the first game in the California League championship series. In 2016, the Dodgers were invited to their major league spring training in 2016. For the start of the 2016 season, he promoted to Double-A Tulsa Drillers of the Texas League and was chosen to the mid-season all-star squad. The Dodgers included him on their 40-man roster at the end of the season.
On July 22, 2019, De Jong signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He became a free agent following the season. On April 1, 2020, De Jong re-signed with the Skeeters for the 2020 season.
