After failing to make it into the first team and was then loaned to Carlisle United in January 2014 prior to making an permanent return to Belgium along with Zulte Waregem in July 2014.
After playing 13 times during the first part of the 2013-14 season on January 31, 2014, Ekangamene along with co-player Sam Byrne were loaned to Carlisle United. The player made his debut for the club the following day, playing in the match in the match against Bristol City. The loan was supposed to run until the close of the season the absence of centre-backs led to Manchester United were forced to call back Ekangamene to be in a different position within one month. When he returned in the summer, he was always present for the under-21s. He also scored during their penalty shootout defeat against Bolton Wanderers in the quarter-finals of the Lancashire Senior Cup on 17 March 2014. His efforts during the campaign led to being nominated for the Denzil Haroun Award for the Best Reserve Player but he was ultimately disqualified in the vote of the fans by Saidy Janko.
On the 11th of July, 2014, Ekangamene departed Manchester United to join Belgian club Zulte Waregem on a four-year contract. The Belgian club made him debut the 17th of July, when he came on in the 87th minute as a substitute for Mamoutou Na’Diaye in Zulte Waregem’s win 2-1 against Polish club Zawisza Bydgoszcz in the second qualifying round of 2014-15’s UEFA Europa League. He began his first league game on the 27th of July, replacing Chuks Aneke during the 83rd minutes of Zulte Waregem’s derby victory 2-0 over Kortrijk.

The boy was born in Antwerp, Ekangamene began his professional career at the local team Royal Antwerp. In the wake of the club’s relationship in association with Manchester United, Ekangamene went on a trial with Manchester United English club twice in the latter part of 2008, before deciding that in the month of March to sign on at a full-time basis when he reached the age of 16 in February. The player made his first appearance with Manchester United’s reserves Manchester United reserves on 26 April 2010, making his debut to replace Michael Keane in the 76th minute of a 1-0 loss against Wigan Athletic. In the following season, he became an active player in the under-18s team, making 18 appearances from a total of 28 and was also a part of three times with the reserve team, including one appearance during the Manchester Senior Cup – a 6-1 victory over Rochdale on the 3rd February of 2011.
Ekangamene continued to play in the under-18s in the following season and scored his debut goal with Manchester United on 5 November 2011, in a 2-1 victory against Bolton Wanderers. The only appearance for the reserve team during the season came in finals in the Lancashire Senior Cup against Blackpool on May 1st, 2012; the match was relegated to a penalty shootout after it was goalless in normal time. Ekangamene was the one to score the decisive penalty by putting an intricate chip that slipped over the goalkeeper who was diving to send Manchester United through to the final. From 2012-13 Ekangamene was promoted to reserve team as a full-time player and was an active player in the team with 19 appearances in all competitions. He was also the first player to score a goal in the reserves on the 20th of March 2013 when he scored the first strike in the fourth minute in a 2-1 loss to Arsenal.
On 29 January 2019, Ekangamene joined FK Inter Bratislava in the DOXXbet liga after a trial at the club.
