Clonda received the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 with the citation “NSW and Australian Representative 1978-1985”. Australian and British Junior Champion
From 2005 to 2009, Clonda was the CEO and director of NSW Squash, the organisation which develops, organises and promotes the sport of squash in New South Wales. She also managed the organisation’s squash facilities at the Thornleigh Squash Centre.
In 2008, she was awarded the Sue Fear Award, named after mountaineer Sue Fear, for courage and achievement in overcoming serious illness to be successful in competitive squash.
Clonda also suffered from chronic asthma and had many health problems during her career. However, she continued to compete. She had surgery in 1989 to remove a tumor from her leg. Later, she had spinal fusion surgery, which could have led to permanent paralysis.

At 13 years old, she was introduced to squash and started to play competitively. After two years of playing, she won the Australian Under-16 title. She won the New South Wales Junior Women’s Championships for the Under-15, 16 and 17 age groups in 1978. She was also diagnosed with chronic asthma that year. She had to take 18 months off from playing to receive respiratory treatment. However, she returned to play after gaining weight.
She became the de facto world champion under-19 when she won the British Junior Women’s Open in 1979. There was no higher age bracket championship.
She has served as a squash administrator and manager for several major sporting events including the 2002 Gay Games in Sydney, and the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
