In 2009, while Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Prevention of Genocide and Other Crimes Against Humanity, Creagh called on Justice Secretary Jack Straw to tighten British Law to ensure that those suspected of genocide would be brought to justice throughout the UK. Creagh claimed that the country was suffering from an “impunity gap” which allowed people who were accused of committing terrible crimes in countries like Rwanda as well as Bosnia to avoid the justice system and continue to live in Britain. In light from this issue, government decided that it would amend this bill Coroner’s and Justice Bill to make the law more stringent so that any person suspect of war crimes all over the world prior to 1991 and living in the UK can be tried in UK courts.

Following the longest investigation ever conducted of the Standards Board, her complaint was dismissed. Creagh was accused by the tribunal for she was “heavily influenced by her political motives” and had been an “insensitive witness, lacking in balanced judgment and one who was prepared to make assumptions about honesty and integrity of others without any proper basis”. But Creagh claimed she “blew the whistle because I believed the Liberal Democrats were not meeting the standards we expect from people in public office. I invite people to look at my evidence and draw their own conclusions”.
