In January of 2006 the writer and actor Fabien Vehlmann aired their first installment of a brand new story, Seuls. It is about teens trying to survive in the world of adults who have gone missing. It did very well both critically and commercially.
Gazzotti continued to draw Soda up to 2005 when he released “Apocalypse Code”, the 12th album in the series. The reason for this was that he said just after the release of the comic, “I should normally continue the series, as we have found an agreement to continue that satisfies everyone.” The comic was later relaunched through Tome along with Dan Verlinden.

Gazzotti’s Italian grandfather was mining entrepreneur and his father was in Belgium at a young age. Both of his parents were sport instructors as well as comic lovers. When he was a kid, Gazzotti was himself very attracted to Franco-Belgian comics like Tintin. The year 1988 was the time he got a job by Spirou’s editor-in-chief Patrick Pinchart, who, upon seeing the portfolio, asked him to draw some drawings. He was a student at the Institut Saint Luc in Liege.
In the following months, he created Le Petit Spirou ( beginning in the 20th to the 21st strip ) together with creators Janry as well as Tome. The latter that he was later the artist of a semi-realistic series featuring the life of a New York policeman, Soda in 1989.
