Mamando who was a Prop and also in the Second-row He made his debut with the Canberra Raiders from the bench in Round 2 of 1994’s NSWRL season, which ended in a 46-16 win against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Bruce Stadium in Canberra (his only first-grade sport of the campaign). He continued to play in 14 games for the Raiders throughout the next 3 seasons and scored three scores and a draw, but struggled to earn his spot within the Raiders forward line-up which comprised Bradley Clyde, John Lomax, Quentin Pongia, Jason Croker and David Furner. In 1995, he was picked to his place in the Papua New Guinea Kumuls squad for the 1995 Rugby League World Cup.
Then, he joined the brand new Adelaide Rams franchise in 1997 and was part of their first team to play their rivals the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville 1 March 1997 to kick off the start of the Super League season. He played for two seasons at the club that was a failure, and became an instant favorite among Adelaide supporters for his never-say-die attitude in a team comprised of talented juniors as well as off-casts of other clubs. As an PNG tester, Mamando played among the Rams most well-known players together with captain of the team as well as the former Australian test player as well as Brisbane Broncos premiership Hooker Kerrod Walters. He played 16 games with the Rams and scored 5 tries.
