Brian Statham (born 21 May 1969) is an English retired right-back footballer who played more than 160 times within the Football League for Brentford. He also played in league football at Tottenham Hotspur, Gillingham, Reading, Bournemouth and was recognized as a captain by England at U21 level.
Then, in the Second Division for the 1993-94 season, Statham made 36 appearances and scored the sole goals of his career an 2-2 draw against Cambridge United on 26 March 1993. While he played regularly in the initial half of the 1994-95 season Statham was transferred on December 24, 1994. Statham played 44 times in a campaign during which the Bees were not promoted following a losing to Huddersfield Town in the playoff semi-finals. The off- season in 1995 saw Statham turned down a contract extension to sign a week-to week contract. Statham played in 24 games before being injured twice in his right leg in a 1-1 FA Cup second round victory against Bournemouth on the 2nd of December, 1995. While he was still under the weekly contract, the club would honor the terms of its original contract until the end in the season 1995-1996.
On 22 August 1997, Statham joined Second Division club Gillingham for a £10,000 fee, with two further £10,000 fees to be paid based on appearances. He made just 24 appearances before departing Priestfield in October 1999.
After loan spells with Woking and Stevenage Borough while a Gillingham player, Statham dropped back into non-league football upon his release from Gillingham. Between 2000 and 2005 he played for Chesham United, Chelmsford City, Welling United, East Thurrock United, Erith & Belvedere and Heybridge Swifts.
On January 22, 1992 Statham became a member of the highly-rated Third Division club Brentford on one month loan in the hope of the possibility of a permanent move. Statham made only one appearance during his time there and rescinded the contract , but he did not hesitate in considering a return and joining the club in a permanent contract for a fee of PS70,000 on the 28th of February. Statham played regularly player in the squad during the final third of 1991/92 season playing 18 times, and was awarded the first silverware of his career in the event that Brentford took home its Third Division title on the last day. Statham’s 58 appearances in the 1992-93 season of the newly reclassified First Division was a career-high but his season came to an end on a depressing end with the team being relegated to the third division.

A right-back, Statham began his career in the youth program with First Division club Tottenham Hotspur and made the switch to professional football in 1987. He made his way to the team’s first squad in the 1987-88 campaign and played 19 appearances. Statham had eight appearances in the 1988-89 campaign prior to his departure from the squad. Statham spent time on loan throughout the 1991-92 and 1990-91 seasons and left White Hart Lane in February 1992. Statham was granted a benefit event by the team in July of the year 2000.
Statham was a three-time captain of the England U21 team in 1988.
Statham returned to training November 1996 and made his first appearance in nearly 13 months as a 79th-minute substitute for Carl Asaba in a 4–1 victory over Plymouth Argyle on 26 December 1996. Featuring mostly as a substitute, Statham finished with the 1996–97 season with 25 appearances, but his Brentford career would end in ignominy, after he was sent off after being shown a second yellow card late in the 1997 Second Division playoff Final, which was lost 1–0 to Crewe Alexandra. Statham departed Brentford in August 1997, having made 201 appearances and scored one goal during five-and-a-half years at Griffin Park.
