Brian Patrick Mullen (born March 16 1962) is an American former professional hockey player that played 11 years in the NHL playing for the Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks as well as the New York Islanders. Mullen played in 832 career NHL games, scoring 622 points and 260 goals as well as 30 playoff points from 62 post-season games.
Mullen was awarded an athletic scholarship to the university of Wisconsin- Madison , where Mullen played under the legendary college instructor “Badger” Bob Johnson.
After retirement, he worked in The NHL Front Office for eight seasons. He also served as a color analyst for radio with the New York Rangers alongside play- by-play announcer Kenny Albert for the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 seasons. In the present, his role is junior hockey coach for the Protec Ducks of the New Jersey Youth Hockey League (NJYHL) that play at the Protec Hockey Ponds in Somerset, New Jersey.

Mullen was chosen as the seventh pick in the NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets. The following year Mullen signed with the Jets and scored 30 goals and scored 50 points in his debut season. The team played five seasons with Winnipeg before joining the hometown New York Rangers where he was a part of four seasons. Mullen also played for United States in both the United States in the 1989 and 1991 Ice Hockey World Championship tournaments following the Rangers were eliminated in the opening round in the Stanley Cup playoffs (he was also a part in the 1984 Canada Cup team). Mullen played in the 1991-92 year as a player for the Sharks and the next year as a member of the Islanders.
On the 9th of August 1993 Mullen was struck by a stroke that was caused due to a blood clot within his brain. The stroke had a severe impact on his motor abilities and the patient required an open heart operation. Mullen was recuperating well and his reflexes generally returned to normal. He was hoping to eventually get back to playing in the NHL however a seizures during 1994 ended the hopes of a comeback. He was forced to leave the sport of hockey.
