Brett Charles Rogers (born February 17th 1981) is an American mixed martial artist who has most recently was a Heavyweight competitor. Professionally competing since 2005, Rogers has fought in EliteXC, Strikeforce, and Bellator.
In September of 2011, Rogers pleaded guilty to domestic violence for the choking of his wife and repeatedly beating her until she fell unconscious in June of 2011. Rogers’ children couldn’t stop him, and his youngest daughter confessed to police that Rogers did not just beat his wife but also assault his sons. Rogers was sentenced to 60 days in prison and three years of probation and a fine of $500.
On June 5, 2012 it was announced that Rogers had signed a deal with Bellator Fighting Championships. He made his debut on June 22, 2012 at Bellator 71 against Kevin Asplund and won the bout by TKO after Asplund’s eye closed up between rounds, prompting the referee to stop the fight.
One month later, he fought at Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2013 where he faced Phil De Fries. He lost the fight by submission.
Rogers was set to take on Alistair Overeem on May 15 in 2010 in Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery. After much discussion about whether or not the fight would be in Overeem’s Strikeforce Heavyweight Championship, it was announced in March 29, that title might be up for grabs. On May 15th 2010 Rogers was defeated by Overeem through TKO (strikes) in the 3rd minute of the first round and only landed one strike throughout the fight, according to CompuStrike. Rogers was able to win against Ruben Villareal through a victory in the W-1 promotion. Brett Rogers was defeated via an arm triangle choke from Josh Barnett on June 18 2011, during Strikeforce: Dallas as part of an eight-man heavyweight event.

Rogers started his MMA training through Team Bison in Bloomington, MN at the garage of the head instructor Mike Reilly. Presently, Rogers trains with “Ambition MMA” at a top-of-the-line training facility that was founded by Reilly along with his team in the year 2008. On February 9, 2009 Rogers joined Strikeforce. In June 2006 in Strikeforce: Lawler vs Shields in which he beat the former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski by TKO after 22 seconds of the initial round. This win propelled Rogers into the top spot on the heavyweight champions at Strikeforce and he was able to take on MMA legendary Fedor Emelianenko live on CBS in Fedor Rogers vs. Fedor Rogers the 7th of November. In the second round, Fedor knocked down Rogers with a vicious right hand that threw Rogers to the ground . John McCarthy quickly stopped the fight and ended Brett’s undefeated streak by losing KO.
Rogers was charged in early 2011 with third degree assault on his wife and was immediately released from his Strikeforce contract.
